Overcoating

Overcoated Extrusions

Polymer overcoating / overjacketing can be perfomed in single-lumen, dual-lumen, multi-lumen and profile extrusion configurations. Some common overcoating substrates include metal wires, kevlar thread, braided shafts, monofilaments and other extrusions such as thin walled PEEK or PTFE catheter liners.

Overcoating can be performed on a continuous length as well as discrete lengths in single or multiple intermittent sections and can have a single substrate or multiple substrates. Overcoating PEEK or PTFE catheter liners can drastically reduce overall catheter cost by eliminating costly reflow operations.

Most thermoplastic resins can be used in overcoating.
